Renowned Pakistani actor Saleem Meraj has spoken out in support of fellow actress Hira Mani, advising critics to stop targeting her for her personal choices and social media appearances.
In a recent podcast appearance, Meraj said that if Hira Mani wants to enjoy her life at this age, she should be allowed to do so without being subjected to harsh criticism.
‘Criticism of Hira Mani is unwarranted’
During the discussion, Saleem Meraj emphasized that Hira Mani’s fashion and lifestyle choices—including her frequent appearances in sarees and elegant outfits—should not be a reason for public backlash.

He noted that both Hira and her husband Mani are “very good people” and that people’s constant criticism of them “makes no sense.”
“If she wants to enjoy her life at this age, let her. People should not criticize her for it,” Meraj asserted.
Social media stars deserve acting opportunities
The actor also addressed ongoing criticism toward TikTokers and social media influencers joining the entertainment industry. He said there’s nothing wrong with giving such individuals acting opportunities if they possess genuine talent.

“In the past, we didn’t have social media. Now, if someone from that space can act well, we should appreciate them,” he explained.
Meraj cited the example of Hania Aamir, who transitioned from social media to mainstream television successfully, adding that new and young talents are essential for modern roles in dramas and films.
Saleem Meraj rates fellow actresses
In a lighthearted segment of the podcast, Saleem Meraj rated several Pakistani actresses based on his personal views:
Saba Qamar: 10/10 — his favorite actress.
Hiba Bukhari: 6/10 — talented, but not his personal favorite.
Resham: 5/10 — admired her in the past but feels her acting has declined.
Saima Noor: praised as one of his top picks, noting her remarkable improvement over time.
Hira Mani: 6/10 — described as a “good actress” whom he has worked with and respects.
‘Saima Noor has improved over time’
Speaking fondly of Saima Noor, the veteran actor shared that he admired her since childhood and appreciates her recent work in Main Manto Nahi Hoon.
He added that while Resham once had great potential, her acting no longer appeals to him, reflecting how the industry has evolved with time.
