Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has termed the announcement of a Gaza peace agreement as a historic opportunity to establish lasting peace in the Middle East and to end the genocide in Gaza.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the prime minister said the leadership shown by United States President Donald Trump throughout the dialogue and negotiation process reflected a firm commitment to global peace. He also recognised the persistent and thoughtful efforts of the leaders of Qatar, Egypt and Turkiye in reaching the agreement.
He paid tribute to the Palestinian people, who have endured extreme hardship, and said such suffering must never be repeated.
The premier has expressed serious concern over recent provocations at Masjid Al-Aqsa and condemned the developments. He said the world must hold those responsible — including occupiers and illegal settlers — to account and prevent any further actions that could undermine the efforts made by President Trump to reduce tensions and move towards peace.
He said Pakistan would continue to work with partners, allies and the leadership of friendly nations to help ensure peace, security and dignity for the Palestinian people, in line with their aspirations and United Nations resolutions.

He commended US President Trump, along with the leadership of Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye, for their efforts.
The deputy prime minister has expressed hope that the agreement would lead to a permanent ceasefire and lasting peace.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent support for an independent State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
