West Indies claimed a consolation victory by ten wickets, with 46 balls to spare, in the third and final T20I against Nepal at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
The win came after the Caribbean side had already lost the three-match series, with Nepal having convincingly won the opening two fixtures. The result denied Nepal a historic clean sweep over the two-time T20 World Cup champions.
Chasing a modest target of 123, openers Amir Jangoo and Ackeem Auguste saw West Indies home with an unbroken partnership. Jangoo struck an unbeaten 74 off 45 deliveries, including five fours and six sixes, while Auguste contributed 41 not out from 29 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes.
West Indies reached the target in 12.2 overs, finishing on 123 without loss. The Nepal bowlers struggled to contain the openers, with no breakthroughs in the innings.
Earlier, Nepal were bowled out for 122 in 19.5 overs after opting to bat first. Kushal Bhurtel top-scored with 39 from 29 balls, including two fours and three sixes. However, regular wickets halted Nepal’s momentum. None of the remaining batters passed twenty, with the West Indies bowling unit sharing the spoils.
Ramon Simmonds was the most effective bowler, finishing with figures of 4 for 15 in three overs. Jediah Blades added two wickets for 20 runs in 3.5 overs, while Akeal Hosein and Jason Holder took one wicket apiece.
Nepal’s innings included two run-outs and only one partnership of note – the opening stand of 41 between Bhurtel and Kushal Malla, who made 12. The innings lost direction after their dismissals, with Nepal losing their final five wickets for just 14 runs.
