Gigi Hadid has disclosed that she once auditioned for the role of Rapunzel in Disney’s planned live-action remake of “Tangled”, a project now paused.
The revelation came during an interview with Vogue, in which she appeared on the cover and spoke candidly with her friend Kendall Jenner.
Hadid, better known for her modelling career, took singing lessons in preparation for the audition. “I was really proud of my scene,” she said. “The singing… I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I’ll show you my audition scene later.”
Disney’s remake of “Tangled” was first reported in late 2024, with Michael Gracey in discussions to direct and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson attached to the script. The project was later shelved following the poor performance of the live-action Snow White film. In contrast, the studio enjoyed considerable success with its adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, which became the only release of the year to surpass $1 billion at the box office.
Alongside her career developments, Hadid’s personal life continues to attract public attention. Her relationship with actor Bradley Cooper remains a subject of speculation. According to Star Magazine, Hadid would be pleased to marry the 50-year-old, but Cooper is said to be cautious about entering into marriage again.
“Gigi’s not pressuring him and has asked those close to her to do the same,” the source said. “But it’s no secret she’s waiting for this to happen.”
The source added that Cooper has given “mixed messages”, at times speaking about marriage positively, while also voicing concern over legal matters such as prenuptial agreements.
Hadid is reportedly prepared to wait, though not indefinitely. “She is not going to wait forever,” the source said. “He really needs to get out of his own way and just do it.”
