Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo heard the plea and issued notices to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), seeking a response.
The application was filed through legal counsel Usman Mushtaq. The petitioner maintained that he had no connection with the allegations made in the FIR. He argued that the case was registered to harass him.
According to the petitioner, he has been accused of promoting gambling applications. However, the FIR did not specify any such application that was banned in Pakistan at the time of the alleged incident.
During the investigation, no documentary evidence was presented to prove that the petitioner was a country head. No charges of online fraud have been established either.
The petitioner contended that Sections 13 and 14 of the PECA Act do not apply in this case. Furthermore, there is no complainant present against him. The section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code invoked in the case is a bailable offence.
He submitted that the registration of the case aimed to damage his reputation in society. The petitioner requested the court to grant him bail.
