Pakistan Navy Day was observed on Monday to pay tribute to the heroes of the 1965 war who fought with courage and sacrifice against a larger adversary, defending the motherland with valor.
The day marks the daring #OperationSomnath, in which Pakistan Navy warships carried out a successful strike on Indian shore installations at #Dwarka, inflicting significant damage.
The submarine #PNSMGhazi also played a decisive role in the war, emerging as a powerful deterrent and symbol of operational superiority.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in their Navy Day messages, paid glowing tributes to the force for its professionalism, bravery, and contribution to national defense.
The President noted the Navy’s evolution into a modern, multi-dimensional force, highlighting its vigilance along Pakistan’s coastline and honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and resilience of ghazis.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the Navy’s success in recent operations, including Marka-e-Haq, and emphasized its expanding role beyond defense, such as boosting the blue economy, port development, and humanitarian aid. He said the Navy’s efforts in safeguarding maritime communication routes and disaster relief have enhanced Pakistan’s dignity worldwide.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral #NaveedAshraf, in his #NavyDay message, praised the courage of naval warriors and reaffirmed the Navy’s resolve to defend Pakistan’s maritime frontiers.
He highlighted the operational preparedness of the force, its role in uninterrupted seaborne trade, and its efforts to foster sustainable economic growth through the Blue Economy.
Naval chief also announced that the second Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference will be held in Karachi from November 3 to 6.
As the nation observed Navy Day, tributes were paid to the bravery, sacrifices, and enduring legacy of Pakistan Navy personnel whose courage continues to inspire future generations.
