BEIJING: During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Beijing, China and Pakistan unveiled the Action Plan on Building a Closer China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future (2025–2029), which, according to Prof. Cheng Xizhong of the Charhar Institute, marks a new phase in bilateral ties and offers fresh opportunities for both nations and the region. The plan strengthens the longstanding “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” by enhancing trade, investment, and industrial collaboration under CPEC, particularly in infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing. It also emphasizes security cooperation as a key safeguard, while promoting people-to-people exchanges in education, youth, and culture. Diplomatically, both countries will coordinate to support multilateralism, amplify developing nations’ voices, and promote regional peace. Prof. Cheng described the plan as a “grand blueprint” aimed at fostering political, economic, security, and cultural cooperation while contributing to global stability.
