Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi termed the Pakistan Army as a pillar of national stability and a firm guardian of China–Pakistan friendship and cooperation.
The statement followed a high-level meeting between Wang Yi and Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to a statement from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Wang Yi expressed confidence in the Pakistan Army’s consistent support for the leadership consensus shared by both countries. He said that in times of uncertainty, strengthening China–Pakistan relations serves the cause of regional peace and stability.
He added that China has always placed Pakistan as a diplomatic priority in its neighbourhood policy.
The Chinese foreign minister highlighted that despite difficult circumstances, the bond between China and Pakistan had grown stronger. He said the two nations had established a lasting tradition of close friendship.
He pledged China’s continued support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity and national security.
Wang Yi also welcomed Pakistan’s growing role in global affairs.
On the other side, Field Marshal Asim Munir affirmed that China remains Pakistan’s “iron brother”, underlining that both nations had stood together in moments of joy and adversity. He said the strategic partnership between the two countries is as solid as a rock and that friendly relations with China represent the collective stance of the Pakistani people.
He expressed gratitude to China’s leadership for its valuable contributions to Pakistan’s economic and social progress.
Gen Munir said that the Pakistan Army is ready to enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism and security. He assured that all necessary steps would continue to protect Chinese personnel, projects and institutions within Pakistan.
He also confirmed Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen0 bilateral ties and continue working together towards progress.
