Earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar and several northern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday morning, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes and workplaces.
Tremors across multiple districts
According to local reports, the quake was experienced in Abbottabad, Charsadda, Chitral, Haripur, Malakand, Batkhela Swabi and their surrounding areas. The jolts measured 5.2 on the Richter scale with the epicentre being the Hindukush mountain range. The earthquake was reported to be 190 kilometres deep, according to the national seismological centre.
No reports of damage so far
Authorities have not reported any casualties or major damage from the tremors. However, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has urged residents to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks.
