Pakistan advanced to the final of the World Games squash plate event after Noor Zaman defeated his Japanese opponent in the semifinal.
Zaman secured a 3-1 victory to seal Pakistan’s place in the title match.
The World Games 2025
The event is being held from August 8 to 12, 2025, at the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Sports Centre—specifically in the Public Fitness Gymnasium section.
Both men’s and women’s singles followed a classic single-elimination (cup) format, each featuring 32 competitors from 24 nations.
Squash has been a consistent part of The World Games since 1997 (excluding 2001), and Chengdu 2025 continues that tradition with strong global participation.
What Is the “Plate Event”?
The Plate Event runs in parallel to the main draw. It offers players eliminated early from the main competition a secondary bracket in which to continue competing—offering more match play and opportunities to shine.
For example, Nasir Iqbal of Pakistan, after a first-round exit, advanced to the Plate Event and claimed dominant wins, showcasing resilience and competitive spirit.
Nasir Iqbal entered the Plate Event following a loss in the main draw. He advanced decisively, including a straight-games victory over Austria’s Daniel Lutz.
Pakistan’s debut in squash at the World Games came through representation by Iqbal and Noor Zaman—marking a milestone in the country’s squash history.
