Pakistan and China on Monday reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in nuclear energy and space research, aligning it with Pakistan’s broader development goals. During meetings with China Atomic Energy Authority and China’s Space Agency Chairman Shan Zhongde, Minister Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the role of CPEC in boosting infrastructure and energy sectors, and cited projects like the K-2, K-3, and C-5 nuclear plants as examples of strategic collaboration. He noted Pakistan’s growing space ambitions under initiatives like “Uraan Pakistan,” including satellite launches with China, a planned astronaut mission to the Chinese space station in 2026, and a lunar mission by 2035. Emphasizing climate change, alternative energy, and technological advancement, Iqbal urged stronger research partnerships, knowledge exchange, and training opportunities for young scientists, while Zhongde pledged China’s continued support in peaceful nuclear and space cooperation.
