TikTok has launched a dedicated search guide aimed at helping users in Pakistan access verified information and support during the ongoing monsoon flood season, the social media platform announced on Tuesday.
As part of its broader efforts to curb the spread of misinformation during emergencies, TikTok said the new feature is designed to connect users with authoritative sources such as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Users who search for flood-related content on the platform will now see a prominent banner encouraging them to verify information through official channels.
The guide will also direct users to TikTok’s in-app Safety Center and its Tragic Event Support guide, which offers mental health resources and practical advice for those affected by natural disasters and other distressing events.
“Our priority is to ensure that users in Pakistan have access to credible and timely information, particularly during emergencies,” TikTok said in a statement. “The new search guide reinforces our commitment to safety, well-being, and responsible content sharing.”
The platform clarified that the feature is part of a broader campaign to mitigate misinformation trends that often surface during crises, especially around natural disasters such as floods. The monsoon season in Pakistan frequently brings widespread devastation, making timely and factual updates critical for public awareness and response.
