The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday forecast rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds in various parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the Met Office, strong and dusty winds are expected in the plain areas of Punjab, with light rain likely in cities such as Talagang, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi. Isolated showers accompanied by thunder are also predicted in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, and Chakwal, particularly during the evening and night hours.
Islamabad and its surrounding areas are likely to witness extreme heat during the day, with the possibility of thunderstorm-driven rain at a few locations by night, the PMD said.
In KP, strong and dusty winds are expected in the plains, while upper districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Malakand may receive rain with lightning during the night. Other areas such as Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad are also likely to experience showers with thunder.
The PMD warned of dry and scorching weather conditions persisting in most parts of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana. Similar conditions are expected in the majority of Balochistan districts, where temperatures are likely to remain significantly above normal.
Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, particularly in regions facing heatwave-like conditions.
