China is willing to support Turkmenistan in accelerating its economic diversification and contribute to the modernization efforts of both countries, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a phone conversation with Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov on Monday.
China-Turkmenistan relations have maintained high-level exchanges, providing strategic guidance for the development of bilateral ties, Wang said.
He stated that as a responsible major country, China has consistently upheld the principle of equality among all nations – big or small – in promoting friendly relations with other countries.
China’s policy toward Turkmenistan has been consistent and stable, Wang noted, adding that China cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries and consistently views these relations from a strategic and long-term perspective.
Meredov noted that the friendship between Turkmenistan and China has deep historical roots, and that the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic partnership, engaging in wide-ranging cooperation across various fields.
Turkmenistan supports the series of important global initiatives put forward by China and is willing to continue coordinating with China on multilateral affairs, Meredov added.
