The 2025 Media Cooperation Forum of SCO Countries was held in Urumqi, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, bringing together more than 300 representatives from media, academia and enterprises across 26 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, observer countries and dialogue partners.
The event highlighted initiatives to enhance cross-border media collaboration, including the release of a public opinion survey reflecting regional perspectives on cooperation.
Delegates also launched an initiative to leverage digital platforms for storytelling, alongside a youth cultural exchange program designed to deepen grassroots connections.
Discussions emphasized the role of factual, balanced journalism in fostering mutual understanding and regional stability, with participants pledging to prioritize coverage of tangible outcomes such as infrastructure projects and technological partnerships.
Speakers underscored the organization’s evolution since its 2001 founding, particularly its commitment to adapting media collaboration to global communication trends.
