Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) thwarted a major terrorist plot near Rahmani Khel Mor in Mianwali, killing three militants during an intense exchange of fire, officials said Thursday.
According to CTD officials, the operation was based on intelligence reports and aimed at intercepting a group of terrorists planning large-scale attacks on police check-posts.
As CTD teams approached the suspects, they came under heavy fire. During the gunfight, three militants were killed — reportedly by fire from their own accomplices. However, six other suspects managed to flee the scene.
Authorities recovered rifles, three hand grenades, ammunition, and explosive materials from the site. A search operation is underway to trace and arrest the fleeing militants. CTD teams have also established checkpoints near Rahmani Khel Mor.
The officials confirmed that the group had finalized plans for coordinated attacks on police outposts.
