Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has stressed the urgent need to eliminate the scourge of terrorism, warning that a clear future strategy must be devised to counter India’s ongoing proxy war.
Speaking during a Senate session, Dar strongly condemned the recent attack on children in Khuzdar, terming it a cowardly act. He urged India to learn from its past failures and emphasised that terrorism must be eradicated not only from Pakistan but from the entire region.
“The curse of terrorism must end. The prime minister and military leadership are fully focused on this issue,” he said. “To devise a roadmap against terrorism, key ministries — including Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Defence — should be invited to form a special committee that outlines a way forward for the nation.”
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that parts of the National Action Plan have already been implemented. However, he criticised past policies, stating that borders were left open, allowing 35,000 to 40,000 militants to settle in the country, and that some criminals were released under executive authority.
Reiterating his condemnation of the Khuzdar incident, Dar said, “The attack on innocent children is unacceptable. Indian proxies must cease their operations.” He also mentioned that terrorism was a key subject during his recent visit to China.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role in global peacekeeping efforts, Dar said, “Our peace forces have played a vital role in maintaining peace in Africa — including in Rwanda, Ghana, and Ivory Coast. We share deep-rooted ties with African nations and support their struggles for independence.”
The deputy prime minister called for a united national front to address internal and external security challenges, urging collective action for a peaceful and stable Pakistan.
