Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi emphasised on Saturday that Pakistan stands as an “iron wall” in the fight against terrorism.
Naqvi welcomed UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy upon his arrival at the Ministry of Interior on Saturday. During the meeting, the two sides discussed Pakistan–UK relations, bilateral cooperation, and development partnerships. He also reiterated Pakistan’s desire to strengthen ties and enhance mutual cooperation with the United Kingdom.
The interior minister appreciated the British government’s support under the Upskill Programme, highlighting its significant contribution to combating organised crime.
He noted that the programme has played a key role in crime prevention and has yielded positive results in collaboration between the two countries.
Naqvi shared that, with the support of the UK’s National Crime Agency, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recently seized 4.3 tonnes of opium, valued at £22 million.
UK Foreign Secretary Lammy expressed gratitude to Pakistan for facilitating the resettlement of Afghan refugees to the UK.
He also expressed satisfaction that the Upskill Programme is progressing successfully.
