The China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA) expressed strong opposition to the U.S. “reciprocal tariffs,” calling it an act of trade protectionism, the chamber said on Saturday.
In a statement responding to the tariff announcement, the chamber affirmed its full support for all countermeasures taken by the Chinese government to protect national interests and the rights of enterprises.
The U.S. decision violates international trade rules and severely harms China’s legitimate rights and interests. It will not yield any economic benefits for the U.S. and will also disrupt global industrial and supply chains, the statement said.
CFNA urged China’s agriculture and food importers and exporters to unite, enhance cooperation, and explore new opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
