The New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA), a flagship project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is set to commence its first international operations with flights to Muscat on January 10, 2025. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and designed to handle 400,000 passengers annually, NGIA is positioned to transform Gwadar into a key regional and global trade hub. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the airport as a symbol of Pakistan-China friendship, highlighting its potential to boost economic growth, create jobs, and enhance connectivity. With robust infrastructure, including cold storage and cargo facilities, improved road networks, and advanced aviation technology, the $246 million project is poised to become a cornerstone of regional transit and trade integration under the Belt and Road Initiative.
