ISLAMABAD :The Senate on Friday passed the National Forensic Agency Bill, 2024 unanimously with certain amendments. Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar on behalf of the Minister for Interior piloted the bill in the House. The bill aimed at transforming the National Forensics Agency (NFA) project into a full-fledged, independent agency in order to enhance forensic capabilities across Pakistan. National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed four new polio cases in the country as new cases were reported from Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Jacobabad, and Sukkur. This brings the total number of polio cases reported across Pakistan this year to 63. Three girls from Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and Jacobabad have been affected, while a boy in Sukkur has been paralyzed by the disease. Dera Ismail Khan has reported nine cases this year, Tank and Jacobabad have each seen three cases, and Sukkur has recorded its first polio case of the year, according to the NIH.
BEIJING: China’s foreign minister Wang Yi said Beijing agreed with Egypt that both nations should promote peace and negotiations to achieve stability in the Middle East, according to a media pool report. The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) Constitutional Bench has allowed military courts to issue verdicts; however, the implementation of sentences or the release of individuals will depend on the outcome of the pending appeals. The World Bank has approved a $240 million loan for Pakistan, which will be utilized in the second phase of improving Karachi’s water and sewerage services.
