PESHAWAR : Afghanistan’s Taliban administration and Pakistan have held fresh peace talks in Saudi Arabia and agreed to maintain a ceasefire, the latest attempt to dial down tensions between the South Asian neighbours. A ceasefire has held in recent weeks between the two South Asian militaries, after the outbreak of deadly border clashes in October, following talks hosted by Qatar and Turkey, although the two sides failed to come to a peace agreement. The fresh talks were held in Saudi Arabia, three Afghan and two Pakistani officials, one of them based in Istanbul, told Reuters. Both sides agreed on maintaining…

The smartphone market has split into two games. Samsung is folding phones into thirds. Apple is selling rectangles. And somehow, the rectangles are winning. On December 1, 2025, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, featuring a 10-inch display when opened, complete with titanium hinges and a $2,449 price tag. It’s an engineering marvel, a device that folds twice, transforms from pocket-sized phone to tablet-sized workspace, and represents years of research into hinge mechanics and flexible displays. It’s also a desperate signal. Meanwhile, Apple reclaimed the global smartphone crown without bending a single screen. In Q1 2025, Apple shipped 55 million iPhone units, growing 13 percent and capturing 19 percent of global…
Australia captain Steve Smith has declined to rule out a surprise return for fast bowler Pat Cummins in the second Ashes test against England, while backing middle-order option Josh Inglis to make a difference if picked by selectors. Regular skipper Cummins missed Australia’s eight-wicket win in the Perth opener while recovering from a back injury and was omitted from the second test squad named last week. Smith, however, said Cummins appeared in good condition at training and may be part of selectors’ conversations for the pink-ball match. “He looks pretty good to me, the way he’s bowled in the nets,”…
