Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem has departed for South Africa to participate in a special training camp in Potchefstroom as he prepares for upcoming international competition. Arshad Nadeem will undergo two weeks of training in South Africa under the supervision of renowned coach Tersius Liebenberg. After completing the training camp, Arshad Nadeem will participate in the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Hungary. The championship is scheduled to be held in Budapest from September 11 to 13. Arshad Nadeem has previously trained in South Africa as well.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has planned to launch the Pakistan Hockey League in the first quarter of next year 2027. PHF President Mohyuddin Wani said the league is aimed at providing greater opportunities to young players and strengthening hockey development at the grassroots level. He said the competition would also help introduce professional coaching and contribute to the development of a more effective hockey structure in the country. Wani described the planned league as part of broader efforts to revive Pakistan’s national sport, saying the process of restoring the country’s hockey fortunes has now begun.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a reception for the Google team, where Pakistan and Google signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote national digital transformation and innovation. A new cyber fraud method has emerged in which fraudsters hack citizens’ WhatsApp accounts under the pretext of parcel delivery and then demand money from their relatives and friends. According to details, a fraudulent group poses as representatives of well-known courier companies and obtains WhatsApp verification codes from citizens. Federal Foreign Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Friday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was taken to hospital for a detailed medical examination under appropriate security arrangements following a Supreme Court decision. In a statement shared on X, Tarar said Khan was taken to the hospital during the night between August 20 and 21, 2026. Pakistani travel vlogger and mountaineer Asma Mushtaq has died during an expedition to Spantik after successfully summiting the 7,027-metre peak in Pakistan’s Karakoram mountain range. Born on February 7, 1992, Asma was known in the mountaineering community for her deep passion for adventure, mountains and natural landscapes. Asma had recently joined an expedition to climb Spantik, one of the prominent peaks in Pakistan’s Karakoram range.
