The makers of upcoming horror-comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’ on Thursday shared a behind-the-scenes video showing lead star Akshay Kumar injuring himself while performing a stunt on the film’s sets. In the short clip, Kumar, who is known for performing his own stunts, is seen executing a jump kick mid-air. However, he loses balance while landing and falls, hurting himself in the process. The date of the incident as well as the extent of Kumar’s injury is not clear yet. “Bhooth Bangla”, directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, marks the duo’s reunion after 15 years. The two have previously collaborated on hit comedies…
A study has found that there appears to be a growing number of AI chatbots that lie and cheat, with reports of deceptive scheming surging in the last six months. The study, carried out by the Centre for Long-Term Resilience (CLTR), recorded nearly 700 real-world examples of this behaviour, often described as “scheming”. The findings point to a growing gap between how these systems are meant to behave and what they actually do. The research looked at thousands of user interactions shared online, particularly on X. That approach gives a clearer picture of how AI behaves outside controlled environments, where…
Daily satellite observations have revealed a continued nighttime brightening globally due to artificial lighting, with important regional variations including a surge in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia alongside a deliberate dimming in Europe driven by concerns over energy conservation and light pollution. Researchers documented a 16% net increase in global nighttime light from 2014 to 2022, but showed it was not a steady brightening but rather a patchwork of increasing and decreasing regional brightness shaped by numerous factors. The United States in 2022 had by far the highest total luminosity of any country, followed by China, India, Canada and Brazil.…
Meta Platforms (META.O) said on Thursday it is pulling ads from Facebook and Instagram aimed at recruiting new plaintiffs for ongoing litigation accusing it and other social media companies of designing their platforms to be addictive to young users. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said the company is actively defending itself against the lawsuits, which include thousands of cases in both state and federal courts in California, and is removing the ads. “We will not allow trial lawyers to profit from our platforms while simultaneously claiming they are harmful,” Stone said in a statement. The move follows Meta’s loss in two…
OpenAI plans to reserve a portion of its shares from an initial public offering for individual investors, CFO Sarah Friar told CNBC on Wednesday, as the ChatGPT maker gears up for a highly anticipated U.S. stock market listing. The AI startup is laying the groundwork for an IPO that could value it at up to $1 trillion and may file with securities regulators as soon as the second half of 2026, Reuters reported last year. Friar told CNBC that the AI startup started testing the waters with retail in its latest funding round and saw “really strong demand” from individuals.…
Donald Trump’s Board of Peace has received only a tiny fraction of the $17 billion pledged for Gaza, preventing the US president from pushing ahead with his plan for the shattered Palestinian enclave’s future, sources told Reuters. Ten days before US-Israeli attacks on Iran plunged the region into war, Trump hosted a conference in Washington that saw Gulf Arab states pledge billions for the governance and reconstruction of Gaza after a two-year pulverisation by Israel. The plan envisages large-scale rebuilding of the coastal enclave after the disarmament of Hamas – whose attacks on Israel triggered the assault on Gaza -…
The Artemis II capsule and its four-member crew streaked through Earth’s atmosphere and safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on Friday after nearly 10 days in space, capping the first voyage by humans to the vicinity of the moon in over half a century. Nasa’s gumdrop-shaped Orion capsule, dubbed Integrity, parachuted gently into the sea off the Southern California coast shortly after 5 p.m. PT, concluding a mission that took the astronauts deeper into space than anyone had flown before. The Artemis II flight, travelling a total of 694,392 miles (1,117,515 km) across two Earth orbits and a climactic…
