Security forces killed nine suspected terrorists, including two key commanders, in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district and Peshawar, officials said.
According to security sources, an intelligence-based operation was conducted in Kurram district on September 8, resulting in the deaths of four militants allegedly affiliated with the banned Fitna al-Khawarij group.
Among those killed was Afghan national Ubaidullah Saad, a key militant commander originally from Afghanistan’s Logar province, the sources said.
Ubaidullah Saad was allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in Pakistan, according to security officials.
Five terrorists killed in Peshawar operation
In a separate operation, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed five suspected militants in the Shamsto Camp area of Armar in Peshawar.
According to the CTD spokesperson, those killed were affiliated with the banned Fitna al-Khawarij group.
A key commander, identified as Imran alias Abdullah, was among those killed, the spokesperson said.
Security personnel recovered an SMG, hand grenades, a homemade improvised explosive device (IED) and other weapons from the militants, according to the CTD.
The spokesperson said the militants were allegedly planning attacks at different locations.
Commander wanted in attacks, target killings
According to the CTD, Imran was wanted in connection with several blasts and target-killing cases in Islamabad and other areas.
He was also allegedly involved in the Tarli attack case and other target killings, officials said.
The CTD said a bounty of Rs12 million had been placed on Imran’s head.
