Security forces have achieved a major success against terrorism in Balochistan, killing 11 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in Kharan and Washuk.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on the intervening night of September 6 and 7. Terrorist hideouts were destroyed and a large quantity of explosives was recovered during the operations.
On September 6, terrorists attempted to disrupt traffic and transportation by blocking a road in Kharan. Security forces responded swiftly and killed eight terrorists operating under Indian patronage, according to the ISPR.
The operation also resulted in the destruction of hideouts used by members of Fitna-ul-Khawarij.
Three terrorists killed in Washuk
A separate intelligence-based operation was conducted in Washuk on September 7, during which three more terrorists were killed. Security forces also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives from a terrorist hideout during the operation.
The latest operations bring the total number of terrorists killed in the two Balochistan operations to 11.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the successful operations carried out by the security forces. They said the nefarious intentions of terrorists and their facilitators would not be allowed to succeed.
The leadership reiterated that operations against Indian-sponsored terrorism would continue with full force until the threat is completely eliminated.
Nation stands with security forces
The president, prime minister and interior minister paid tribute to the security forces for their efforts in the fight against terrorism. They said the nation stands firmly with the security forces and supports their efforts to eliminate terrorism from the country.
The latest operations in Kharan and Washuk underscore the continued security operations against terrorist networks operating in Balochistan.
