A 52-member high-level Chinese business delegation has arrived in Pakistan for the first time as part of efforts to strengthen CPEC and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
The high-profile delegation’s visit will continue till 14.
Pakistan and China have decided to establish a joint economic headquarters for trade, digital economy and industrial cooperation. The move is aimed at improving coordination on Pak-China business projects and accelerating cooperation under CPEC.
Agreements worth billions expected
Agreements worth billions of dollars are expected on Pak-China CPEC projects during the visit. The Chinese trade delegation will sign business-to-business agreements during meetings in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
Government-to-government agreements are also expected during important meetings with the delegation.
Meetings have been scheduled with the Federation Chamber of Commerce as well as the chambers of commerce in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
The delegation will hold discussions with Pakistani business leaders to explore investment, trade and industrial opportunities.
Key sectors for cooperation
The Chinese delegation is expected to sign important agreements in e-commerce, telecom, solar and energy sectors. Agreements are also expected in engineering, chemicals, textiles and building materials.
The high-level delegation will also sign agreements related to electric vehicles, medical equipment and industrial equipment.
The visit is being seen as an important step toward the success of CPEC and deeper Pak-China economic engagement.
Officials expect the delegation’s meetings in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi to open new avenues for trade, digital economy and industrial cooperation.
