The Diamer Bhasha Dam Project (DBDP) has announced a total of 79 job and internship opportunities for local residents of District Diamer and Tehsil Harban Basha in Upper Kohistan, as the mega hydropower project continues to generate employment in surrounding areas.
According to official details shared this week, 69 vacant positions have been announced for District Diamer across technical, administrative and support categories. These include roles such as junior engineers, surveyors, overseers, clerical staff and office assistants, along with technical support positions including electricians, mechanics and drivers. Additional vacancies are also available under the Land Acquisition and Resettlement (LA&R) section, which handles compensation and community-related matters.
In a separate initiative, 10 internship and placement positions have been allocated for residents of Tehsil Harban Basha in Upper Kohistan. These roles focus on entry-level technical and administrative work, including office assistance, site support and junior technical tasks, aimed at providing hands-on experience to local youth.
The recruitment drive is part of ongoing efforts by Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to ensure local participation in the project while supporting skill development and economic activity in project-affected areas.
The positions are spread across different Basic Pay Scale (BPS) grades, with eligibility criteria varying by role. Educational requirements range from matriculation to intermediate and relevant technical diplomas, depending on the position. For internship placements, candidates aged 18 to 30 years are eligible to apply.
Applications for both opportunities are being processed through Central Testing Services (CTS), which will conduct screening and selection. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements, including domicile, age limits and educational qualifications, and submit the required documents along with the prescribed fee.
The Diamer Bhasha Dam Project, being developed under a joint venture between PowerChina and Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO), represents a major milestone in bilateral infrastructure cooperation. Scheduled for completion in 2028–29, the project is expected to significantly enhance Pakistan’s water storage, irrigation and clean energy capacity while continuing to create employment and skill development opportunities for local communities.
