Cristiano Ronaldo has departed Saudi Arabia and arrived in Spain following heightened tensions in the Middle East after Iran’s retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases in the region.
According to flight tracking website FlightRadar24, the Portuguese star’s Gulfstream G650 jet took off from Riyadh at around 9 p.m. local time on Monday and landed in Spain early Tuesday.
The Al-Nassr forward’s departure comes after the Asian Football Confederation suspended eight matches across the Gulf region amid security concerns following the outbreak of hostilities involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Al-Nassr’s quarter-final clash against Al-Wasl, which was scheduled to take place in Dubai on Wednesday, has been postponed. The AFC also confirmed that all Champions League Elite Round of 16 fixtures in the West region have been delayed due to the evolving security situation.
Ronaldo, 41, had been living in Riyadh with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their five children.
The latest developments follow missile attacks launched by Tehran at U.S. bases in the Middle East in response to joint U.S.-Israeli strikes.
Ronaldo is currently under contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr until 2027.
