ISLAMABAD : The US has expressed support for Pakistan’s right to defend itself against Taliban attack.
US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker expressed it when she spoke to Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.
Hooker in a post on X wrote: “Spoke today with Pakistan Foreign Secretary Baloch to express condolences for lives lost in the recent conflict between Pakistan and the Taliban”.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely and expressed support for Pakistan’s right to defend itself against Taliban attacks,” she added.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that the security forces have killed 331 combatants of the Afghan Taliban regime and more than 500 injured so far in Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.
In a post on X on Saturday morning, the federal minister stated that during the ongoing operation, 104 check posts of the Afghan Taliban were destroyed while 22 were taken over by Pakistani forces. He further claimed that Pakistani forces had destroyed 163 tanks and military vehicles belonging to the Afghan Taliban.
The minister noted that around 37 locations across Afghanistan were also targeted by air, effectively.
