President Asif Ali Zardari, speaking at the 78th anniversary of Gilgit-Baltistan’s (GB) freedom from Dogra rule, said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had opened new avenues of livelihood, trade, and connectivity for the region. He emphasized ensuring that these opportunities benefit every valley and village, making GB a model of development, justice, and equality. Highlighting GB’s contributions to Pakistan, he called it the nation’s “crown” and a gateway symbolizing friendship with China. Zardari reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to GB’s progress through education, health, and tourism development, and suggested the idea of a local airline to boost connectivity. He also expressed solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir and concluded by urging GB to continue contributing to a prosperous Pakistan.
