The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) Tropical Cyclone Warning Center has issued its eleventh alert, confirming that Severe Cyclone Shakti has now weakened into a regular cyclone.
According to PMD officials, Cyclone Shakti is currently located around 910 kilometers southwest of Karachi and is expected to further weaken into a depression within the next 24 hours.
Rain, strong winds expected along coast
The weather department forecasted intermittent light rain in the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan today.
The alert also warned of high waves and strong winds, with speeds ranging between 70 and 90 kilometers per hour, which may impact coastal settlements and fishing communities.
The PMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the deep sea until October 7, due to potentially dangerous sea conditions.
Authorities said the Arabian Sea remains rough, and safety precautions should be strictly followed until the system weakens completely.
