Bollywood’s beloved couple, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, are all set to embrace parenthood once again. A source close to the actress revealed that Sonam is currently in her second trimester, and the couple is expected to make an official announcement soon.
Sonam Kapoor, Anand Ahuja’s growing family
Sonam Kapoor tied the knot with businessman Anand Ahuja on May 8, 2018, in a grand wedding ceremony in Mumbai attended by Bollywood’s biggest stars. Four years later, on August 20, 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Vayu Kapoor Ahuja.
At the time, Sonam had shared a heartfelt note explaining the spiritual meaning behind the name. She wrote, “In the spirit of the force that has breathed new meaning into our lives… In the spirit of Hanuman and Bheem who embody immense courage and strength… we seek blessings for our son, Vayu Kapoor Ahuja.”
She further added that in Hindu scriptures, Vayu is one of the ‘paanch tatvas’ (five elements), known as the deity of breath and the spiritual father of Hanuman, Bheem, and Madhav.
What source revealed
While the couple has not yet made an official announcement, a media portal reported that a source close to the family confirmed the pregnancy. The source shared, “Sonam is in the second trimester of her pregnancy, and the news has brought immense joy to both families.”
The announcement is expected soon, and fans are already buzzing with excitement.
Sonam Kapoor’s motherhood journey
The Veere Di Wedding star has often opened up about her experiences as a mother. Speaking about her first pregnancy, she revealed that she chose the Gentle Birth Method with Dr. Gowra Motha, a natural approach that emphasizes minimal intervention.
“My pre-natal journey was quite different. I was very sure I wanted to have as natural a journey as possible that would lead to a natural delivery,” Sonam had said in an interview.
Her time away from Bollywood
Sonam Kapoor made her Bollywood debut in 2007 and worked continuously for 12 years before taking a break. After the birth of her son Vayu, she chose to step away from films to focus on motherhood.
In a recent interview with Times of India, the actress explained, “I became a mother and wanted to give it as much time as possible – so that I could witness the process of seeing my son grow up. I wanted to enjoy the feeling of being a mother, and it has been the most rewarding experience of my life.”
Her last project was the thriller Blind, which was released directly on Jio Hotstar.
Comeback plans revealed
Sonam has confirmed that she is ready to return to films soon. Speaking about her comeback, she said, “Now, I will be back to doing what I love doing – acting. I’m being drawn to disruptive subjects that allow me to shine. I want to do projects where the role of the woman is layered and not unidimensional.”
She also revealed that her first project post-pregnancy will roll out in the last quarter of 2025, marking her much-awaited return to the big screen.
