Actress Memoona Qudoos alleged that Lahore’s entertainment industry harbors more “wrong practices” than Karachi.
In a recent appearance on a podcast, Qudoos alleged that certain practices, including homosexuality and public parties, were more common in Lahore. She remarked that such “wrong things” should be confined to private settings rather than displayed publicly.
Lahore vs Karachi: Different realities
According to Qudoos, while questionable activities also exist in Karachi, they are less visible compared to Lahore. She further stated that people in Lahore tend to “show off,” talking about wealth they don’t actually possess.
By contrast, she said people in Karachi are highly professional but, in her view, often to an extreme. “There is so much professionalism in Karachi that they have left humanity behind,” Qudoos said.
‘Deals’ in relationships
The actress also made a controversial claim about how relationships work in Karachi.
She alleged that men in the city often approach women with “deals,” offering material benefits in exchange for becoming girlfriends. “If you want to be a girlfriend, you will get these things—if not, it doesn’t matter,” she said.
Casting Couch allegations
During the podcast, Qudoos also addressed the issue of casting couch in the entertainment industry. She admitted that this trend—sex in exchange for work—exists not only for women but also for men, who, she said, are equally vulnerable to harassment and exploitation.
“Respect is not only for women. Men are also victims of harassment, and wrong things happen to them too,” she stressed.
