Special ReportISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan organized a special movie screening highlighting the Japanese aggression against China during World War II and the unmatched resilience of the Chinese people in the face of adversity.The event was spearheaded by Wang Shengjie, Political Press Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, and attended by students from leading universities including NUST and COMSATS. The screening shed light on the sacrifices made by the Chinese people and how their determination to stand up for what is right ultimately led to victory.Following the screening, students shared their reflections and expressed admiration for the courage and resilience displayed by the Chinese nation during one of the darkest chapters in history. Many of them acknowledged that such events are important to educate the younger generation, who may not be fully aware of China’s struggle and triumph in the past. They extended their gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for hosting an event that not only honored history but also connected it to China’s position as a global leader today.Also present was Mr. Shi Yuanqiang, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, who warmly greeted the students and thanked them for their participation. His interaction further encouraged the students to strengthen people-to-people ties and continue learning from China’s history of resilience and progress.After the film screening the students expressed their deep gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, thanking the hosts for organizing such a special event. Many confessed they had very limited knowledge of China’s resilience during World War II, especially under the pressure of Japanese aggression. This screening, they said, opened their eyes to a story of courage that is seldom covered in their regular studies.During the session, the students were also briefed on the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), including its major achievements and the ongoing work under its second phase. They were informed about how CPEC is contributing to Pakistan’s economic development, creating opportunities for youth, and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations. The students acknowledged that understanding China’s history alongside its present contributions, particularly through CPEC, gave them a more comprehensive view of China’s enduring role in the world.Following the formal proceedings there was an informal session during which students were keen to learn more about Chinese culture and how China managed to overcome the aggression of Japan in those times. Questions ranged from how ordinary citizens resisted, to how such resilience shaped China’s identity. The conversation reinforced the view among the young audience that history and culture are deeply intertwined in China’s rise to its current global standing.By organizing such initiatives, the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad continues to foster greater understanding among Pakistani youth about the true face of China, its history of endurance, its remarkable rise as a leading force in the modern world, and its ongoing commitment to Pakistan through transformative projects like CPEC.
