President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering friendship with China, calling the two countries “iron brothers” and noting that ties with Beijing are the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. In his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President thanked China for supporting Pakistan’s sovereignty, development, and stance on Kashmir, while also expressing condolences over recent flood losses in China. He highlighted the strategic importance of CPEC under the Belt and Road Initiative and emphasized celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026. Wang Yi, in turn, stressed that China-Pakistan friendship is time-tested, based on mutual trust, and rooted in a shared vision of a common future, as both sides also discussed bilateral cooperation and regional security.
