The Pakistani government has launched a major electric vehicle (EV) initiative, planning to distribute over 100,000 Chinese-made e-bikes and 300,000 electric loaders and rickshaws among youth to reduce fuel imports, protect the environment, and boost employment. The program, part of Pakistan’s shift toward green energy and aligned with CPEC’s infrastructure goals, includes free e-bikes for top students, subsidized vehicles for unemployed youth, a 25% quota for women, and special allocations for Balochistan. The initiative is expected to promote local manufacturing, create jobs, and transform urban transport in cities like Gwadar and Quetta.
