The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), once primarily associated with infrastructure development, is now driving a social transformation by empowering women across Pakistan. In regions like Tharparkar and Gwadar, women are breaking traditional barriers by taking up roles such as heavy truck drivers, garment workers, and solar technicians under CPEC-linked initiatives. This shift marks a move towards a human-centered development model in the second phase of CPEC, focusing on vocational training, special economic zones (SEZs), and inclusive growth. Experts emphasize that integrating women into the economic framework, especially within SEZs, is essential for sustainable development. These efforts are not just generating income but are also reshaping social attitudes, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and progress throughout Pakistan.
