ISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : The DASU Hydropower Project in Pakistan commenced the excavation of the dam foundation pit, marking a critical phase in the construction of this major water conservancy hub. The excavation spans from an elevation of 715.0 meters to 776.0 meters, with an estimated total excavation volume exceeding 1.22 million cubic meters. The project team overcame challenges posed by a catastrophic mudslide in 2022 by optimizing geological surveys and engineering designs, implementing a stepped excavation plan. With a total installed capacity of 5400MW, the DASU Hydropower Station will significantly alleviate Pakistan’s power shortages, create over 8,000 jobs, boost local industries, and drive regional economic growth and green energy transformation.
