Pakistan and Azerbaijan have taken a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements in key sectors such as trade, energy, tourism, and education. These agreements were formalized following talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on Monday.
The MoUs exchanged during the ceremony reflect a deepening partnership between the two nations. Among the key agreements was a collaboration between Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR) and Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for the Machike-Thallian-Tarujabba White Oil Pipeline Project.
Additionally, a new agreement amending the Framework Agreement for the sale and purchase of LNG cargoes under the Master LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement was also signed, opening avenues for further energy cooperation.
In a symbolic move to foster closer cultural and educational ties, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the cities of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan, and Lahore, Pakistan. This agreement aims to promote cooperation in a wide range of fields, including culture, tourism, urban development, education, and science.
Both leaders expressed their enthusiasm for the agreements, highlighting their importance in advancing mutual interests and creating stronger diplomatic, economic, and cultural bonds between Pakistan and Azerbaij
