Chairman of NAB, Lieutenant General (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt, addressed a critical issue regarding land matters in Karachi, emphasizing their importance and announcing that swift action will be taken. Speaking at an event, he highlighted the gravity of the situation, revealing that a massive scam involving land in Sindh was at play. He even stated that if the files of 7,500 acres of Karachi land were examined, it would uncover widespread problems, suggesting that the land issue in Karachi is even more pressing than that of Kashmir.
Butt pointed out the lack of a proper system for maintaining land records in Sindh, which has led to significant challenges for builders. He assured that NAB stands with the builders and promised to take action if they can provide evidence of corruption by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Malir Development Authority (MDA), or Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
The Chairman also shed light on the corruption affecting land dealings in Gwadar, where cases have been registered concerning lands worth approximately 3 trillion rupees. Butt reassured the Karachi Chamber of Commerce that justice would be served, emphasizing NAB’s commitment to addressing these issues.
Finally, he instructed the DG NAB to compile a detailed report on the Karachi Master Plan, signaling a proactive approach to tackling these long-standing concerns.
