At least four terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) – referred to by officials as Khawarjis – were killed during a joint operation by the police and Tal Scouts in the Doaba area of Hangu district on Saturday.
The targeted operation, launched in the early hours based on intelligence inputs, focused on known TTP hideouts in the Zargiri, Shinaori, and adjoining areas.
During the exchange of fire, District Police Officer (DPO) Khalid Khan and Station House Officer (SHO) Doaba, Nabi Khan, sustained injuries, police said.
According to DSP Amjad Khan, security forces came under militant fire as they moved to intercept the suspects.
“Four Khawarjis were killed in the encounter. The operation is ongoing, and a clearance operation is currently being conducted in the area,” he said.
The injured officers were shifted to a local medical facility where they are reported to be in stable condition. Additional security personnel have been deployed to reinforce the area and prevent any potential retaliation.
Police officials said the terrorists were believed to be involved in recent acts of violence in the region, contributing to growing concerns over renewed TTP activity across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
