The government has increased the levy on gas and LNG used by captive power plants to Rs 1,243 per mmBtu. The levy had been imposed on off-grid captive power under an International Monetary Fund condition. The director general of gas has issued the notification regarding the increase in levy for captive power plants. The new increased levy will be collected under section 3 of the Levy Act. The new school timings for the holy month of Ramazan have been issued in Punjab. According to the notification, from Monday to Thursday schools will operate from 8:30am to 1:00pm. On Fridays, schools will function from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Double-shift schools will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. A notification has also been issued by the Punjab School Education Department.
