Chinese researchers have made a major breakthrough in optical communications and 6G wireless technologies, taking the global lead in realizing cross-network convergence between fiber-optic and wireless communication systems. The independently developed fiber-wireless integrated converged communication system has set new records for data transmission rates. The results were published on Wednesday in Nature. The rapid growth of AI data centers and the evolution toward next-generation 6G wireless networks demand ultra-high-speed and low-latency signal transmission across diverse application scenarios. However, fundamental differences in signal architectures and hardware constraints between fiber-optic and wireless communications have long created a “bandwidth gap,” limiting seamless integration…
China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, warned on Thursday that any military involvement by Japan in the Taiwan question would face a “head-on blow.” Fu made the remarks during the plenary meeting of the 2026 session of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the United Nations. Fu said that Japanese leaders in recent years have acted against the tide of history. Japan has explicitly linked the Taiwan question to a so-called “survival-threatening situation,” responded speculatively based on the Japan-U.S. alliance, and attempted to use “self-defense” as…

Pakistan’s trade balance has deteriorated sharply in the first seven months of fiscal year 2025–26 after the government eased import restrictions under pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
