France, the Netherlands and Belgium have recorded 3,700 excess deaths during the June heatwave that sent temperatures soaring across Europe, with authorities warning that the numbers are preliminary and could rise. At least 40 people were killed and eight others injured after a passenger bus travelling from Quetta to Peshawar plunged into a ravine in the Dana Sar area between Zhob and Dera Ismail Khan on Friday, local authorities said. The 10th typhoon of this year, Maysak, is projected to make landfall in south China’s Hainan Province on Friday afternoon, according to an 8 a.m. update from the provincial meteorological service.
