China firmly opposes US unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies over third-party ties, a Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson said on Saturday, adding that China urges the US side to correct its erroneous actions.
In response to a question regarding US sanctions against two Chinese enterprises over ties to Cuba, the spokesperson said that the US has violated international law through multiple discriminatory restrictive measures that have severely harmed Chinese enterprises.
Such measures deviate from the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and disrupt economic and trade cooperation, the spokesperson said, warning that China reserves the right to take necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
