Security forces and police have killed eight terrorists in separate operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to official statements.
The operations targeted suspected militant hideouts in Washuk district and wanted terrorists in Swat, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security personnel involved.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Washuk district after receiving reports about the presence of terrorists.
During the operation, five terrorists were killed and their hideouts were destroyed. Security personnel also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosive materials from the site.
The operation was described as a successful counterterrorism action aimed at eliminating the threat posed by the suspected militants.
Three wanted terrorists killed in Swat
In a separate operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Swat district police killed three wanted terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Sakha Dob area, which falls within the jurisdiction of Kanju police station.
According to the CTD, the operation began after police personnel encountered terrorists who opened fire upon spotting the officers. Security personnel returned fire, killing three suspects, while two others escaped from the scene.
A search operation was launched to trace the fleeing suspects.
The CTD identified the three men killed in Swat as Abdullah, Mansoor and Ghufran. National identity cards recovered from them indicated that all three belonged to Swat. After the exchange of fire ended, police found the bodies of the three suspects inside a house in the area.
Police also recovered three Kalashnikov rifles, six magazines and numerous cartridges. A map of Shakardara Police Station and a diary were among the other items recovered from the scene.
