The Pakistan Army has conducted a successful test launch of the extended-range version of its Fatah-2 missile system, the military said, describing the weapon as capable of engaging targets with high precision.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) , the Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) system is equipped with advanced navigation and state-of-the-art avionics, with enhanced range intended to expand the army’s ability to engage targets at greater distances.
The army said the missile’s trajectory and manoeuvrability features were designed to help it overcome enemy missile defence systems.
The test launch was witnessed by the Commander Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC), senior Pakistan Army officers, and scientists and engineers involved in the programme.
Fatah-2 ER designed for extended-range strikes
The military said the extended-range version would further enhance the Pakistan Army’s reach and its capability to engage targets deep within an adversary’s territory.
It also highlighted the missile system’s precision-strike capabilities and navigation technology, saying these features were intended to improve its operational effectiveness.
The statement did not specify the missile’s tested range, the location of the launch or other technical details about the trial.
Military leadership congratulates scientists
Following the test, the Commander ARFC praised the dedication and technical expertise of the scientists and engineers involved in developing the weapon system.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test launch, according to the military statement.
