Former Liverpool footballer and Egypt captain Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving in England for six months after his Rolls-Royce was caught speeding in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
The 34-year-old failed to tell police who was driving the luxury car when it was recorded travelling at 36mph (58 km/h) in a 30mph (48 km/h) zone on March 27, according to court documents.
Salah did not respond to a notice of prosecution issued by Cheshire Constabulary and did not enter a plea to the charge.
He was prosecuted under the Single Justice Procedure at Warrington Combined Court and convicted of failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver of the Rolls-Royce.
The procedure allows magistrates to deal with certain cases in private hearings. The court imposed a six-month driving disqualification and ordered Salah to pay £1,044.
According to reports, the speeding incident involved a Rolls-Royce Spectre registered in Salah’s name. The luxury vehicle is reportedly worth more than €466,000 ($544,000).
Salah also reportedly failed to respond to two notices sent to his mansion in England, which is estimated to be worth more than €5 million ($5.8 million).
Days after Liverpool departure announcement
The speeding incident occurred just two days after Salah announced that he would leave Liverpool following nine years with the club.
Liverpool confirmed his departure on March 24, saying the Egyptian forward had “firmly established himself as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history.”
Salah finished his Liverpool career with 257 goals in 442 appearances before moving to Turkish side Trabzonspor after the 2025-26 season.

The latest driving case comes shortly after Salah returned to the headlines for his performances in Turkey.
The Egyptian forward scored a hat-trick and provided an assist as Trabzonspor defeated Galatasaray 4-0. The performance took his league tally to seven goals this season.
Salah has been away from England since moving to Turkey, but the Cheshire case has brought his name back into the spotlight.
Previous motoring incidents in England
The latest case is not Salah’s first motoring-related issue in England.
In 2022, he was fined and given three penalty points after being caught speeding while driving a Ferrari F8 Tributo.
In 2018, Salah was photographed using a mobile phone while driving near Anfield. Police later said there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him over that incident.
Salah now begins a new chapter in Turkey following his departure from Liverpool, while the six-month driving ban relates to his failure to provide information identifying the driver of his Rolls-Royce.
