The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana 10% of her match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s Women’s Asia Cup match against India.
Fatima Sana was sanctioned after she appeared to signal towards the pavilion following the dismissal of India batter Shafali Verma during the match.
The ICC imposed a 10% fine on the Pakistan captain and awarded her one demerit point for the violation.
According to the ICC, Fatima Sana admitted the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, meaning no formal hearing was required.
Fatima Sana reaches two demerit points
The latest penalty takes Fatima Sana’s tally to two demerit points within a 24-month period.
Her first demerit point was awarded during a T20 International against Ireland in Dublin on August 6, 2025.
The ICC Code of Conduct uses demerit points to track repeated disciplinary offences by players over a specified period.
Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat against India in the Asia Cup match, being bowled out for 55 before India chased down the target in just 8.4 overs.
Fatima Sana was one of Pakistan’s better performers with the ball, taking three wickets for 17 runs despite her side’s seven-wicket defeat.
