The Punjab government has decided to upgrade hundreds of high schools across the province to higher secondary schools, enabling students to continue their FA and FSc studies at the same institutions after completing matriculation.
According to sources, the School Education Department has sought detailed data from high schools across Punjab as part of the upgradation process. The schools will also undergo third-party inspections, after which institutions meeting the required standards will be upgraded to higher secondary level.
Sources said Punjab currently has around 6,000 high schools, of which 5,800 have already submitted the required information to the department.
They added that 795 high schools have expressed interest in being upgraded to higher secondary status, citing the availability of adequate space and the necessary facilities.
